  • Established in 2006, Thunderer Tires is a Thailand-based tire manufacturer and an associate brand from the Deestone family. Thunderer produces durable, high-quality tires for light trucks, SUVs, passenger cars, trailers, and crossovers. A popular player in the replacement tire industry, it offers affordable and lasting tires for different drive conditions. Thunderer has developed a wide product lineup with various tire categories, including all-season, all-terrain, highway, and UHP.

Developed for route vans and service trucks, the Thunderer CLT is a commercial-grade light truck tire featuring superior load-bearing capacity. Designed with twin steel belts and a reinforced sidewall to resist damage, its heavy-duty construction makes it suitable for commercial use. The CLT features an all-season tread design and offers low rolling resistance, enhancing fuel efficiency. The multi-ply casing construction enables this commercial-grade tire to handle heavy workloads, resisting punctures and damages. Thanks to its tread design and unique compound, it delivers improved road grip, stability, and all-season traction. Drivers enjoy consistent, accurate steering response as the tire maintains continuous road contact, making it a great choice to perform on dry, wet, and light snow.

So, is it worth going for? Let's try to answer in this Thunderer CLT tire review.

    Features and Benefits

All-season tires are designed to offer a balanced mix of traction, handling, grip, and performance in different conditions. These tires consistently perform on dry, wet, and light snow, ensuring ride comfort and a long life span. All-season tires for commercial use come with robust construction to endure heavy loads while maintaining ride stability.

    • All-season performance: The special tread pattern and tire compound ensure better gripping ability in different conditions. It delivers increased traction in dry, wet, and light wintry conditions, allowing harnessing commercial vehicles to their full potential. Thanks to the circumferential grooves, it mitigates the risk of hydroplaning, removing slush and water from the footprint.
    • Robust construction: The commercial-grade all-season tire has reinforced sidewalls and a strong internal structure. Due to the multi-ply tire casing, it can endure load pressure since the construction strengthens the tires. While the steel belted plies reduce the risk of puncture, resisting on-road damage, the tire retains its optimal shape around the year, preventing any deformity.
    • Better handling: The optimized tire footprint maintains constant contact with the road surface to boost steering response. Drivers enjoy more precise and quicker steering as the tire responds to their commands accurately. The ribbed pattern ensures increased handling and control all year round.

    Pros and Cons

While the CLT offers several benefits, it also has some drawbacks. Let’s review its pros and cons before we sum up this Thunderer CLT tire review.

    PROS:

    • Offers year-round consistency with superior traction, handling, and grip
    • Lasts long with its strong construction and resistance to chips, cuts, and punctures
    • Ensures better handling with constant road contact to enhance steering response
    • Offers better fuel efficiency with low rolling resistance
    • Enhances load-bearing capacity for commercial vehicles with steel belt construction

    CONS:

    • It does not come with a mileage warranty
    • It cannot be used on heavy snow or ice in severe winter conditions

"Thunderer LT235/75R 15 Commercial L/T" Unlike others, Simple Tire's website was a breeze to navigate. Shipping est. was 5 days, FedEx dropped in 3 days. Between my coupon, military, Simple Pay Digital Card discounts and free shipping, my savings were unbeatable. Not to mention the great tires: "Thunderer LT235/75R-15 Commercial L/T 10-ply E load range". They replace RV travel trailer tires: ST225/75R-15, 8-ply D load range. Outside diameter for both sizes is appx. 28.3".

All four tires I bought were slightly out-of-round and egg-shaped, causing a vibration between 45mph (accelerating) and 60mph (decel). Had the shop check and confirm they were correctly balanced, which is when they discovered the real issue. Rotating them on my van had no effect, and it didn't go away with time either. The tread seemed to wear faster than I expected as well, but other than those issues they worked as a tire should, although I will add that their off-road performance left much to be desired. Put about 15K miles on them so far, and decided to run them into the ground so I can switch sooner. I will no longer try to save money on tires and will be switching back to USA-made Coopers soon.

Noticed a vibration at 50-60mph after mounting tires, initially thought it was my bad struts. Changed them out, problem persisted. Rebalanced tires, shop said each tire is slightly out of round / egg-shaped. Working on a return/reimbursement process, as there is no excuse for out-of-round tires - I will never buy cheap tires again.

I"ve installed these on a 4500# camper because trailer radials are poor quality and seems like 3 years is what you get out of them before they start to separate. I know the E load range is overkill but has decreased my rolling resistance. these tires balanced well with minimal weights and low road force Have taken 2 1200 mile trips on them so far so good

I don't know about winter yet because it is summer and treadwear is guess because I have only put on 3,000 miles. Overall good heavy tire and did not need a lot of weight to balance.

Last two purchased one was defective (held air roughly 3 days and under 10 miles) but because I own my own tire machine with a lifetime of experience I was not allowed a claim. B.S.!
