I have these on a truck that I just bought. They are not comfortable when hitting bumps. Extremely disconcerting on dirt roads with bumps. I'm also not a fan of the gap sizes. Pieces of stone get wedged in and stay there. You hear them and have to get out to pry them out. When you don't hear them, they still seem to mess with the tire balance and create wobbles at different speeds.

With roots dating back to the 1800s, Nokian tires is the world’s northernmost tire manufacturer. Known for developing the first winter tire and being a leader in the segment, the brand now offers all-season, all-weather, all-terrain, and commercial tires for various driving needs.
The Nokian Outpost AT is another great all-terrain tire that offers drivers of Jeeps, light trucks, and SUVs dependable on- and off-road traction. You will not go wrong if you select this tire for long-lasting wear, proven snow traction, and strong wet weather performance that maintains consistent performance and appearance throughout the life of the tire.
But is it the right tire for you? Let’s take a look at this Nokian Outpost AT tire review.
Features and Benefits
All-terrain tires are great for traction on all kinds of on- and off-road driving surfaces thanks to their reinforced constructions and aggressive tread patterns. Let’s take a look at the Nokian Outpost AT tire review to help understand all its features and benefits at a glance:
- Superior traction: Summit sidewalls and shoulder notches offer extra grip when the tire sinks into soft surfaces while Dual X Canyons provide sturdy handling on challenging terrains like mud, snow, and sand.
- Extremely durable: Aramid Shield technology gives the tire ultimate durability and puncture resistance, and gravel guards boost the Outpost AT’s puncture protection.
- Reduced noise: A Triple Pitch design reduces road noises and vibrations to create a quiet, comfortable ride for drivers and passengers.
- Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified: The Outpost AT is Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified, which means it’s approved for use in moderate to severe ice, slush, and snow.
Backed by a 60,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty on all sizes, the tire is also covered under Nokian’s Pothole Protection program. If a tire suffers damage beyond repair due to a road hazard, it will be replaced at no cost by Nokian assuming various terms and conditions are met.

SimpleTire’s view on Nokian Outpost AT tires
You can trust this tire with performance, durability, and traction if you drive a Jeep, pickup truck, or full-sized SUV. Plus, this tire is backed by tread technologies like Summit Sidewalls that provide grip on terrains like mud. The Canyon Cuts within the tread enhance grip on unpredictable rocky surfaces, and Gravel Guards promote self-cleaning and consistent traction.
Aramid Tough Shield technology within the sidewalls protects from cuts, chips, abrasions, tears, and others, and Nokian's Driving Safety Indicator aids drivers to know how much tread depth is left. Additionally, this tire is backed by Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified, meaning that it can conquer severe snow conditions without sacrificing handling or performance. The Triple Pitch design reduces road noises and vibrations to create a quiet, comfortable ride for drivers and passengers on paved roads.
All in all, this is a solid tire that you can bank upon for conquering terrains but if you are willing to compromise on warranty, you can consider Nitto Exo Grappler AWT for added traction and durability at a similar price.

Replaced the stock road tires on my Tacoma with the Outpost ATs and have been blown away. I wanted to switch to ATs as I've started to do a bit more camping and offroad driving. I didn't want noisy tires though so I searched long and hard before finding these. I'd heard rave reviews about Nokian and now I know why. They're incredible. I went on offroad trails where I was sure I'd need 4WD, but aired down a bit they climbed right over the terrain in 2WD which no slipping. I even did some tests on a steep dirt incline and could back most of the way up the hill in 2WD which was mind blowing. The ride seems better than my stock Toyo road tires and handling is more responsive which I didn't expect at all ( I think they may have less flex ). I live in Texas so trying them in snow is unlikely. All I can say is I'd definitely recommend them they may have turned me into a Nokian fanboy.
I had high hopes for these tires after reading about their attributes and so far I am very happy with their performance. They replaced the stock M/T tires that came on my new 21 Willys, which I could not stand, as 80% of my driving is on paved roads. The Outpost AT's are everything I had hoped for and more, they are outstanding tires and improved my Willys drivability 100%. These tires track well, corner well, on very capable off road road in wet/dry trail conditions and are VERY quiet on the road. I can actually hear the radio again and talk with passengers. I am very impressed with these tires overall. Simple Tire was also outstanding. Easy ordering process and all 4 tires arrived in one delivery 2 business days later. Current year production dates. Very good company to work with!!!!
These tires have been great in every aspect of AT tires. Great traction off road, smooth street use and quiet on the highway. I replaced the OEM Firestone M/T's and will never look back, now that I have owned these AT's From Nokian. I even picked up an honest 2 MPG overall and can have a conversation with passengers again now that the prior howling is gone. I am 100% satisfied with the Nokian purchase from Simple Tire. Now for Simple Tire.....just a seamless and solid transaction. Tires arrived within 2 days and all 5 at the same time. GREAT service and will be buying tires very soon for my Tacoma, I was so impressed with this process. First time buying tiers on line and it will not be my last time with Simple Tire. 100% satisfied Simple Tire customer.
As the summary says, I love these tires. After putting a few thousand miles on them in all road conditions (dry/wet/snow/ice/unpaved/mud) I can say these tires are well worth the money and I will be putting these on again whenever I need them. I drove from North Carolina to Nebraska and encountered a snow storm on the way and these tires didn't disappoint at all, they handled the snowy frozen roads with ease and predictable control. While in Nebraska we encountered several "minimum maintenance roads" which after the snow and rain were essentially mud pits. Though there was some slick spots and slides the tires were still pretty predictable and I never got stuck at all. Wet and dry traction are great as well, I can break them loose when I want and I can keep them planted if I need, I put 4/5 for road noise because they're noticeable compared to highway terrain tires but for an AT they would get a 5/5. Before I got these tires in a span of about 10,000 miles I had Toyo open country R/Ts with about 40k miles on them, Toyo open country AT2 with about 45k on them, west lake sl369 with 25k , and the tires that came on the truck when I bought it used Kelly HT tires (couldn't decide what wheels I liked the best) but these were quieter than all of them (especially the R/Ts!!) for the first 8000 miles and I can't tell if they're louder or not than the Kellys that came on the truck again very pleased with the quality and attention to sound of tread pattern. This truck is my family vehicle and my wife has not complained at all about these tires other than wondering why I went through so many to get them. These were the lightest E rated tires in this class so to save on fuel (as much as one can on a v8 157" f150) I chose these. I haven't noticed any big difference in fuel consumption from the Westlake tires, but they were a street oriented all terrain so this seems like a win going to a true all terrain. I highly recommend these tires for your light trucks and hope to be getting another set for my wife's expedition after she wears the hankooks down. Thanks Simpletire for a flawless transaction and always great prices!
Actually purchased the nAT and they are awesome. On par with Toyo for ride and they look great. I have had three people ask what kind of tire I have and where did I get them. Nokian is not marketing an awesome tire enough.
