Founded in 1949, Nitto Tires specializes in high performance radial tires designed to surpass regular drag racing radial tires for street and competitive use. These tires provide excellent control, handling, and tread life. Other performance, ultra-high performance, on and off-road light truck, and competitive tire variants are also available from Nitto. Nitto all-season tires work well in dry, rainy, and even light snowy situations.
The Nitto NT420V is a luxury all-season tire that is designed for use on trucks and SUVs. These tires offer strong traction and performance on dry and wet roads.
However, Is it the best tire for your truck or SUV, as well as your budget? Let's go over the features and benefits of installing Nitto NT420V tires on your car today.
Features and Benefits
Investing in a set of all-season tires can benefit you in a variety of ways. Since the tires are designed to withstand light snow, most drivers can use them all year and in most climates. By knowing about the features and benefits of Nitto NT420V tires, you can determine whether or not they will provide all-season traction.
-
Solid all-season traction: The asymmetric tread pattern and all-season tire compound work together to boost surface traction of the tire in dry, rainy and winter weather conditions. All-season composition increases rubber flexibility in a range of temperatures, and the asymmetric tread's optimized components increase the amount of biting edges that adhere to the road surface during the course of the tire's performance.
-
Reduced risk of hydroplaning: Two large circumferential grooves on Nitto NT420V tires help to remove water and slush from the tire and reduce the risk of hydroplaning, allowing them to be used on wet roads. Tire also has inner lateral grooves that create extra biting edges to improve traction in wet conditions.
-
Improved controllability: Consistent surface contact of the asymmetric tread improves the stability and responsiveness of the steering. In reaction to the driver's orders, the steering gets quicker and more accurate. Location of the larger outer shoulder blocks on the tread improves cornering. These blocks have more biting edges, which improve the grip on the road surface and improve the vehicle's ability to turn and maneuver.
-
Longer lasting tread life: Non-directional tread pattern maintains uniform wear throughout the tread area. Acceleration, cornering, and braking forces are evenly distributed, preventing uneven wear patterns over the tread surface.
-
Quiet drive: These tires are quiet thanks to a variable pitch tread block design and an asymmetric sipe and groove count, which reduce road noises and provide a quiet, comfortable ride for drivers and passengers.
Pros and Cons
Is this the all-season tire you've been waiting for? Before passing judgment, let us first consider its pros and cons:
- All-season tread pattern to boost traction in dry, rainy, and winter weather conditions.
- Wide circumferential grooves drain water and slush out of the tread to reduce the risk of hydroplaning.
- Asymmetric tread pattern to offer all-season traction
- Non-directional tread design to reduce wear offering a longer tread life.
- Extra biting edges to boost wet traction.
- A variable pitch tread pattern with sipes and grooves reduce road noise.
There are certain areas where the Nitto NT420V tire might be improved despite having all of these pros and cons, including:
- Should not be used in moderate to severe winter weather conditions.
- It is not appropriate for off-road use.
- No mileage warranty.
SimpleTire’s view on Nitto NT420V tires
For those who are looking for an all-season tire that can provide great all-season traction, they can take a look at the Nitto NT420V. In comparison to the Kumho Crugen HP71 and Falken Ziex S/TZ-05, the Nitto NT420V provides solid traction and handling.
The Kumho Crugen HP71 and Falken Ziex S/TZ-05 have better SimpleScores thanks to their excellent handling, and they offer a mileage warranty too. But the NT420V provides the same great traction as Crugen HP 71 and Ziex S/TZ-05 and also offers solid handling and tread life.
Although the Crugen HP71 has a better SimpleScore, it is slightly more expensive than the Nitto NT420V.
Overall, the Nitto NT420V is a decent all-season tire with low vibration and noise, great wet traction, and long tread life at an affordable price.
Vehicles the Nitto NT420V is a good replacement tire for
When your original tire wears out, you can replace it with a comparable tire. Sometimes it could be an improvement above the OEM tires. The Nitto NT420V is not an original tire, however it is a great replacement tire for the following vehicles:
- Dodge Ram 1500.
- Chevrolet Silverado.
- Infiniti QX80.
- Ford F-150 3.5 Ecoboost.

The tires work very well. Even with the 305 on my 20x12's, they fit perfect and run very well. I gained about 4mpg over my terrain tires that were on my truck previously. I tow my racecar and trailer (about 7500lbs) and they don't act up at all. Run very smooth. They are pretty decent in the rain as well. Never had an issue even at highway speeds in the rain. I highly recommend these tires to anyone that doesn't tow too much weight and wants a decent street tire without dropping serious coin. Nittos have always been good to me. I'll definitely get another set in the future.
Road noise is non existent. Dry traction is phenomenal. Wet traction is pretty damn good as well. Will be ordering another set of these when it's time. Simpletire has been my go to for years and will continue to be.
Tire has been riding phenomenally for 5k miles now with no issues. They look great on my Hellcat Durango.
