Excellent all around tire for a Jeep Wrangler! These tires are everything I was hoping for - no regrets here! Nice looking tread with some side edge grip for just-in-case 4-wheeling, but not too aggressive for the street/highway. They have great traction wet or dry and perform well in the snow. They also have good overlapping center tread bars (next tread bar touches the road before the previous one releases the road, which is probably what causes the nice quiet ride on the highway. They balance up well and are very smooth going down the road, even at 70 mph. Note - Don't install them on too narrow of a rim as they do crown just a little bit across the tread from edge to edge. Sorry, not enough miles yet for me to comment on treadwear, but no problems so far.

A subsidiary of the Chinese tire conglomerate Doublestar, Kumho Tire is a South Korean tire maker that produces tires in different categories such as all-season, all-terrain, all-weather, UHP, summer, and winter tires for passenger cars, minivans, CUVs, SUVs, light trucks, and commercial vehicles. Kumho tires carry a reputation for offering reliable performance, solid traction, and value pricing. Among its range of all-terrain tires, the Kumho Road Venture AT51 is a great replacement tire option for SUVs and light trucks.
The Kumho Road Venture AT51 features an aggressive, symmetric tread pattern with large blocks in the center and an open shoulder design for maximum traction and consistent performance. The deep grooves and optimum void ratio allow enhanced traction on wet, snow, mud, and other challenging terrains. Kumho claims the tire offers a balanced ride on and off the road along with improved efficiency. To back its product, Kumho is offering a limited tread life warranty of 55,000 miles on P-metric sizes only. With a Three Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol that assures improved performance in severe winter weather conditions, the Kumho tire is available in a wide range of tire sizes covering most SUVs and light trucks; they extend from 15 to 20 inches.
So, does the tire perform to the level claimed by the South Korean tire maker? Let’s find out in the Kumho Road Venture AT51 tire review.
Features and Benefits
All-terrain tires are engineered with tough rubber compounds to resist the challenging conditions of off-road. They feature deep grooves and tough blocks with self-cleaning traits to maintain a consistent grip. The Road Venture AT51 carries most of these traits without costing a bomb.
- Solid traction and off-road grip – The symmetric tread pattern with full-depth center grooves and excellent void ratio creates an excellent channel for quick removal of water and slush to avoid aquaplaning and provides a solid grip on snow, mud, and rough terrains. The staggered shoulders extending into the sidewall not only look great but also aid in providing improved traction on soft soil or muddy areas. Lastly, 45-degree chamfer cuts in the tread blocks deliver maximum traction performance.
- Extra durability and longevity – A sturdy construction and reinforced carcass provide extra durability while stone ejector bars expel stones and debris out of the tread to prevent any possible damage from stone drilling. The tear-resistant compound provides a rugged character to the vehicle and promotes even wear.
- Enhanced winter performance – These all-terrain tires can equally combat snow and ice in severe winter conditions as they come with deep grooves and the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake – ensuring improved winter performance. The optimized tread pattern with strategic sipes not only reduces noise and improves comfort but also aids in returning solid grip and traction on snow-covered surfaces.

These tires have done everything I put them through sand rocks wet now snow
So far these tires are awesome and were a Great Deal
I waited to review these until I put some miles on them and went through snow. All that I have to say is these are great tires!! Great snow performance! MY CRV was dragging the bottom on the 16" snow but with these tires just went throught it like nothing. Tires are heavy but thats because they are a D rated sidewall.
I haven't had them on long but I love the way they look on my car. I get compliments all the time. I will buy them again.
Great tires. Never once got stuck in the Snow or Sand
I bought these tires because I often haul heavy loads in the back of my 1965 Chevy C10, and usually on shale gravel roads which can be very hazardous to regular 4 ply tires. I was expecting a rough ride as these are very stiff tires, but instead enjoy a very smooth, comfortable ride. I was expecting a lot of road noise on the highway, as the tread is very aggressive, but instead hear no more road noise than I did with regular winter tires on. I have yet to enjoy these in the winter months as I just got them in May, so I'll update this review once I've experienced them in the snow. Overall, these are very excellent tires for what most would consider "offroad" as well as actually going offroad through the woods on wet, grass covered areas where I would normally spin a little. I was in no way expecting bad tires, I just didn't expect them to be this good! I wouldn't shy away from recommending these to regular highway drivers that only go "offroad" a couple times a year, or from people that plan to use them exclusively offroad. We'll see how they do this winter! For clarity, these are mounted on a 1965 Chevy C10, but they didn't have that in their options for vehicles, so I picked the oldest model they had.
Pretty good all around tire, does not excell at any one thing greatly but acceptable.
