  • Firestone Destination X/T

Firestone was founded by Harvey Firestone way back in 1900, and they have a reputation for making top quality tires.

The Firestone Destination X/T is another great all-terrain tire that offers drivers of Jeeps, light trucks, and SUVs dependable on- and off-road traction. If you are looking for a tire that has long-lasting wear, proven snow traction, and strong wet weather performance that maintains consistent performance and appearance throughout the life of the tire.

But is the Firestone Destination X/T tire the right tire for you? Let’s take a look at this Firestone Destination X/T tire review.

    Features and Benefits

All-terrain tires are great for traction on all kinds of on- and off-road driving surfaces thanks to their reinforced constructions and aggressive tread patterns.

Let’s take a look at the Firestone Destination X/T tire review to help understand all its features and benefits at a glance:

    • Superior traction: Staggered shoulder lugs are molded into an aggressive off-shoulder tread design to provide extra biting edges for off-road performance and additional off-road traction support.
    • Extremely durable: Full-depth interlocking 3D sipe technology provides even wear and consistent performance. An innovative tread pattern balances chip-and-tear resistance on- and off-road surfaces, improving tread life.
    • Prevents hydroplaning: Open shoulder slots evacuate water to help reduce the risk of hydroplaning
    • Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified: The Destination X/T is Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified, which means it’s approved for use in moderate to severe ice, slush, and snow.

Backed by a 50,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty on all sizes, and a 90 Day Buy and Try policy by Firestone, this tire is a good deal.

    Pros and Cons

Before deciding to buy the Destination X/T tire or not, let’s first drill down on a few factors that can help you decide whether or not the tire is right for you.

    • Great cornering and braking grip on dry and wet roads
    • Better winter performance than most all-terrain tires
    • Superior, long-lasting performance
    • Excellent traction and grip in rain
    • Shorter stopping distances
    • Backed by a 50,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty

While Firestone makes a good claim about the Destination X/T tire’s performance, it does have some shortcomings.

    • The ride is firmer than its closest premium competitors
    • Tread noise is a slight issue on rough pavement
    • Not ideal for use on icy surfaces
    • Not available for use on coupes, sedans, minivans, and some CUVs

SimpleTire’s view on Firestone Destination X/T tires

    Firestone Destination X/T

If you drive a Jeeps, pickup truck, or full-sized SUV, you can surely consider Destination X/T to deliver traction along with heavy-duty toughness. Plus, the staggered shoulder lugs and an aggressive off-shoulder design combined with extra biting edges offer solid off-road ride traction.

Additionally, open shoulder slots strengthen off-road traction and help to reduce the risk of hydroplaning. This tire has full-depth, 3D sipes that offer consistent performance and even wear, and is Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified, meaning that it can conquer severe snow conditions without sacrificing handling or performance.

All in all, this is a good tire but if you want an increased warranty and are willing to compromise on durability, you can consider Hankook Dynapro AT2 (RF11), or Yokohama Geolandar AT G015 at a lesser price.

Vehicles the Firestone Destination X/T is a good replacement tire for

In addition to OE fitment, the Destination X/T is commonly used as a replacement tire option for vehicles such as the Chevrolet Colorado, Ford F-350-Super-Duty-XLT, Jeep Cherokee, Nissan Frontier, RAM 3500-Lone-Star, Toyota Tacoma and many more.

Purchased set of cheaper tires and they were terrible. Problem after problem so Simple Tire worked with me and I purchased another set of GOOD tires and returned the 1st set of tires for a full refund, they paid shipping both ways, and now my RAM 1500 rides like a dream. Great people to work with. If you have a problem just contact them and they will work it out for you. Great company and when I need tires again, you bet it will be SIMPLE TIRES.

As good as duratracs in snow. Better than duratrac on ice. Fairly quite. Seem to ride well for 10ply tire too. Handling is great, feel solid and very predictable in dry, wet, snow and even on ice.
