The Tires came in quickly and when I had them installed they weren't hard to balance. These Federal Xplora MTS had a very quiet and smooth ride and wore very evenly. I put them on a 2015 Ford f-150 FX4 and was very satisficed with my purchase. Simpletire.com gave me the best price I could find online or in person. Will be buying these tires again in the future I love the on road performance and they didn't have any issues with what off-roading I did. I had no issues at all in rain or dry but needed to use 4x4 in snow over 4 inches. I recommend this tire to anyone that wants that aggressive look and you don't want to sacrifice your on the road drivability.
Simply the best all terrain tire you can buy. Quiet on the street, comfortable, amazing offroad capabilities, amazing tread design, amazing in the rain and amazing in the snow. These tires NEVER failed me. Ran a 37/13.50/22 and I've never loved a tire more than these. Federal outdone themselves.
Had a set of these on my 1500 and loved them so when my 2500 Diesel needed tires I bought another set. Its my daily and spends a lot of time on gravel roads, coming up on 20000 miles and about 50%. Far exceeded my expectations with such a heavy truck. Have a new set sitting here waiting for winter.
Replaced the Nitto Ridge Grappler with a set of this new hybrid. Overall, too soon to say how they'll wear, but they feel comfortable and quiet for the amount of thread it has, almost no tire noise. They handle water better than the Nitto (traction control would come on when taking off hard, not with the Federals) They look sporty and handle as such but with a mud tire look. Ordered on Black Friday and tired arrived by Dec 3. Ordered another set and they came in 3 days. Simple tires have great variety and prices
Do not buy these tires, because 4 different trucks out of 4 all have egg shaped tires. There is a reason they are on sale. I ordered these from simple tire, and they shipped them out fast with nice updates along the process. When I pulled up to Diesel Cartel, to have them mounted, first thing the owner said, was "oh nooo, you don't want these tires. I've done three trucks with these tires. One 40 inch, and two 35 inch tires and all of them were egg shaped, and they are terrible in the rain." I have a 40 inch tire. I had a bubble in my old tire, and was unable to drive to work, and couldn't miss anymore work. I was stuck having to put these tires on. I paid Diesel Cartel ~$320 to mount and balance these tires. He said every tire is egg shaped very bad, and there is a tolerance of acceptable egg shape, that goes to 20. He said mine were at 180. No balancing could straighten these tires out. I get bad shakes at 35 mph and 55 mph. When its not shaking, the tires are nice and smooth over bumps in the road, and don't make any humming sound when travelling. Im going to contact to simple tire, on what to do now, and maybe file a complaint to federal tire company for selling bad tires.
They are great. But are heavy heavy tires. They ride rough and show why they arent meant for highway use. And show trucks only. Speed rating at 99 mph and hard compound in cold weather make for a rough ride. They get looks and attention no doubt and no more than i drive my k5. Im good with them
I ordered the MTS in 35R20 for my FX4, replacing a set of Mickey Thompson Deagan 38' in the same size... First impression was that this is one bad baaaad mamma-jamma! They look like no other tire, but they also function like no other tire.... When I bought mine there were only a few reviews so it was a real gamble but I feel like I hit a flush on the river. These things grip a road like no other tire. The feeling was a MAJOR difference between the Deagan 38. They glide. And you feel glued to the road, because you ARE. The sound? What sound? There is no sound. It was such a huge difference that I was able to hear and feel and diagnose that I needed to replace my shocks and a few other suspension parts. Now these are not going to be quite as effective in mud, but I live in south Louisiana and we have clay rich gumbo-mud or quicksand, so there's no practicality driving a full size truck many places so muddy you need more traction than these provide. What these do exceptionally well, is drive safely in south-tropical torrential rain and through deep pools of water. I drive from Houston to Baton Rouge, in a tropical storm, through construction 1/3 of the way, in the middle of the night, safely cruising at 70mph! Federal underplays the traction of these tires and their functionality. Sure, they look wicked, but they do it while doing what 90% of truck owners need them to do....but I can't lie, it's fun to sit in the parking lot if sporting goods stores and just watch guys reactions, cause everyone has to check them out haha. Would I buy them again? You can bet in it. Great tire
Great tires and we love the look of the Federal Xplora MTS. Haven't had them long enough to review winter traction or tread lift but they are surprisingly quiet for the tread pattern. Highly recommend Simply Tire for price and fast shipping.
I had been running the Federal Couragia M/T on both trucks and was very happy with them, but decided to try a set of the Xplora MTS. I have to say they are my new favorite, I just ordered another set yesterday for my Tahoe. They look and handle great with slightly less road noise than the Couragia. I have about 10000 miles on the first set and am very pleased with them....
